When you visit the Howard Steamboat Museum, you step back in time to the Great Steamboat era. This beautiful 1894 home built by premier steamboat builders– the Howards of Jeffersonville– features original furnishing, brass chandeliers, stained glass windows, intricate carvings throughout, and a grand staircase. The museum preserves the Howard family story, the mansion, and the history of the family’s shipyards while fostering an appreciation of steamboats and commerce along inland rivers.
